Lefkada First Sailing Experience

From a refit, a route is born.
Selene, a 1985 Beneteau First 34.5, returns to sea as a training boat and a real navigation lab.
A project for those who love wind, technique, and the freedom of the sea.
Not a showcase site, but a shared route to learn, refine your skills, and live the sea as a protagonist.

Why this project

Some choose a day cruise on a large motor vessel with hundreds of people. Others prefer the lightness of a sailing boat that quietly cuts through the sea, slipping into unspoilt bays and uninhabited islands where mass tourism never arrives. On board Selene you discover the authentic freedom of sailing: few people, real wind, places that stay with you for their purity.

An 11-metre, 40-year-old boat demands care, method and transparency. Here you’ll find a technical refit log, a real logbook of outings, a video pilot book for the Ionian Sea and a live weather widget to plan safely.

Authentic sailing

Some choose the crowd of a steel ship. Others prefer wind and silence. On board Selene we sail between islands reachable in a few hours, away from mass tourism, where the sea and time become allies again.

Sailing Formats

Sailing Options — a page showcasing all our marine activities along with their specific costs. Silent Islands/Venetian Echoes, ecc. The most natural island of the area. Or Fiskardo, Cefalonia and Kioni Ithaca, everithing in one day.

Technical diary

All refit works, with photos, costs and materials. A useful archive for future boat owners too.

Real log book

Authentic onboard entries: wind, route, lessons learned. No fake reviews.

Video pilot book

Drones and dockside footage: entrances to ports and bays across the Ionian Sea, the Peloponnese and the Saronic Gulf.

Live weather

Windfinder integrated to check the wind before casting off.

Programs on board Selene

Two complementary paths: day sailing outings to experience authentic sailing, and offshore skill-building for those who want to refine technique and autonomy.

Day Sailing Experience: Venetian Influences

Spend a day at sea designed for those seeking something beyond the usual crowded beach. Departing from Nidri, we sail among the smaller Ionian islands, with stops in Kefalonia and Ithaca. There’s time to pause, observe, and truly take in where you are. The rhythm of the day is set by the wind and the sails. Return in the afternoon with the sunset. A reserved experience for small groups, away from mass tourism and large motor vessels.

  • Safety briefing + basic knots
  • Helm, sail trimming.

Advanced Sailing with Overnight Stay in Ithaca (2–3 days)

Explore the Ionian Islands: Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Atokos, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos. For the bolder ones: Strofadi. Real routes, real wind, essential crew.

  • Route planning and safety
  • Sail handling, reefing, anchoring
  • Watch system, crew management, life on board

Twin routes in the Ionian Sea

In these two videos by Sebastian Kummer, aboard the electric catamaran HopYacht 30, he crosses the Ionian Sea from Zakynthos to Ithaca, Atokos and Kastos, then passes by Lefkada and stops in Vlicho Bay — the base of Selene. The journey continues to Mesolongi, where Sebastian will sell his boat, but not before describing life on a zero-emission electric catamaran.

An alternative journey, away from crowded routes, through untouched bays of Atokos such as Cliff Bay and One House Bay, passing Formicoula and the villages of Meganisi, Spartochori and Vathy. An authentic story of sailing, nature and silence, showing — in beautiful images — the exact places you can reach on board Selene.
